Tips for Scrapping on the Cheap

  • Use those 40% off coupons for Michaels. Sign up for the mailing lists for Joann Fabric, Archivers, Hobby Lobby and any local scrapbook stores to get their coupons and sale notices.
  • Set up a filing system for scraps

  • Buy fiber in bulk.

  • Use embroidery floss.

  • Use your computer to print page titles instead of purchasing stickers. Leave space between each letter, then use a circle, square, or tag punch to punch each letter out individually.

  • Designate a small area for scrapbook stuff, and don’t buy any more than it can hold.

  • Target frequently has scrapbooking items in their $1.00 hot spot, along with office items that can be used for organization.

  • Arrange a swap night with a group of friends. Bring your unwanted paper, embellishments, tools, etc. – one person’s trash is another’s treasure!

  • There are many photo printing websites, and most give free prints on your first order. Check out as many as you can find: Snapfish, York Photo, Shutterfly, Winkflash, Ofoto. Combine your order with a cash back rebate site such as fatwallet.com or ebates.com.

  • Prepaid prints can bring your cost per photo under 10 cents each, depending upon the quantity purchased.

There are many more things to try, but the very best technique is simply to buy only what you will use for a specific project – and then use every last bit!
